Technical lead and system designer for a waste minimisation project for a multi site hotel chain operating throughout the UK and Ireland identifying major savings in terms of waste energy and water in 2019 in approximately 40 sites averaging over £100,000 per hotel per annum.
Established Energy auditing systems from a base in Shetland for which SEA won Scottish Energy Saver of the year award in 1997 through energy awareness, surveying, business and community support and relationship building (with local charities and Scottish Hydro-Electric) for a programme we designed delivering Business and Household energy management improvements from Quarries and fish farms to Hotels and households known as SaveElectric which reduced energy demands on the islands ahead of a new power station upgrade and district heating scheme linked to a waste to energy plant.
Undertook a range of energy surveys and audits for clients through the Carbon Trust helping them improve their survey and reporting techniques for food and drink companies a well as a range of service companies 1997-2005.
Operated the EU flower programme for the UK DEFRA organisation (Government Environment Agency) delivering onsite assessments to the standard and reporting on issues related to the effective use of the standard given specific UK issues, broader sustainability elements and legal and ethical minimum requirements 2004-2008
Founded a European Association of ecolabels known as VISIT to share best practice between tourism ecolabels across Europe for which we were the main technical and standards developer as well as operating a vice president for the association 2001-2008
